Throughout the year we invite you to bring your new or gently used clothes, toys and household items to help families in need in the Indianapolis community. Previous collections have benefited the Crooked Creek Multi-Service Center and the NCJW Boutique at Thrifty Threads.
The Pillowcase Project helps you and it helps another child who is not as lucky as you. Use your imagination to paint a pillowcase and we fill it with a teddy bear, a book, a new package of underwear, a toothbrush, and toothpaste. The filled pillowcase is then given to a Marion County Foster Child, ages 2 - 15, who is living with strangers but in a safe place. Your painted pillowcase gives them comfort while they sleep holding the teddy bear. Over the past five years, the Pillowcase Project at IHC has distributed hundreds of pillowcase totes that help make another child's world a brighter place! For more information about the Pillowcase Project, please contact Cynthia Yosha-Snyder.
Shpola in the Ukraine
IHC has been paired with the town of Shpola in the Ukraine. Shpola once had a thriving Jewish community that has been greatly diminished after the Russian Revolution and during
World War II. There are now approximately 50 members of the Jewish community who spend time together during Jewish Holidays. Our Social Justice committee supports this community by sending quarterly donations to help with fuel for heat during the winter, medications, purchasing matzoh for Passover, and celebrating other Jewish festivals. If you would like to contribute to this important project please contact Konstantin Veygman.
