The Indianapolis Hebrew Congregation is bringing Emily Kaufmann on board as the new Communications Specialist. Emily will be tasked with spearheading weekly communications, managing IHC social media, and sharing the story of the synagogue and the stories of those involved in the community.
Emily comes to IHC after working in television news for 6 years. She got her start as a news producer in mid-Michigan in 2015. After 2 years in the Mitten, she made the move to Indianapolis to work at WISH-TV. During her time at WISH, she played a key role in launching the 9am newscast and getting stories on-air that otherwise would have gone unreported. Emily was also at the helm during the city’s biggest news stories from the senseless violence at the FedEx facility to the sale of Indianapolis Motor Speedway. As much as she loved setting a 12:30am alarm each morning, Emily is ready to use her passionate skill set to advance the mission of IHC.
Emily was born and raised in the northern suburbs of Chicago. She attended DePauw University where she studied history and media studies. In her free time, Emily enjoys getting her steps in on the Monon, baking goodies and sweets, going out for brunch, and exploring nearby state parks.
