Anne Frank Volunteers

We are proud to let you know that Glick Philanthropies has generously underwritten the upcoming performance of The Diary of Ann Frank at the Indianapolis Repertory Theater (IRT). Through this generosity JFGI and JCRC have been invited to enrich the educational content, programming and teacher resources for the 10,000 students who will be attending The Diary of Anne Frank performances at 10am matinees on the following dates: January 22, 23, 24, 25, 28, 29, 30, 31 and February 1, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 11, 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, 21, 22.  We are seeking community members to volunteer to act as docents, answering student questions about Anne Frank and the Holocaust, at each student performance.   We have arranged with IRT to have up to four volunteer docents at each student matinee and complementary tickets will be given to the volunteers for the performance at which they are acting as docents.

All volunteers will be required to attend a docent training session from 10-11:30 on either 1/16 or 1/18 at the Domont Auditorium in the former Bureau of Jewish Education Building, 6705 Hoover Road..  At the training the volunteers will learn about the exhibit and be trained to answer questions about the life of Anne Frank.  The training will be facilitated by Amber Maze, Holocaust Education and Program Coordinator, along with Bryan Caine, Associate Director of Education-Exhibits, at the Anne Frank Center for Mutual Respect from NYC.

The student matinee performances will take place from 10:00-12:30, with a 15 minute intermission.  Volunteer docents will be asked to arrive at IRT at 9:20am and be available to greet students and orient them to the exhibit before the performance.  They will also be available to answer student questions during the intermission.  There may be some student groups who need to wait for a bus to arrive and we would appreciate volunteers staying to interact with students and answer their questions following the performance, as appropriate.  We anticipate the total time of the volunteer commitment to be 9:20am-1:00pm on the day for which you sign up to volunteer.
